My little bitties (Preschoolers) love playing a simple guessing game to the song "Love Somebody."
One child is told to think of someone in the room that they love. At the end of the song, the others take turns guessing who it is.
Hannah is one of my quietest students. She is slow to participate, often watching the others for a long time before deciding to join in the fun. She sings at almost a whisper and rarely talks to me or her classmates. So I was surprised yesterday when she raised her hand at the end of the song to take a guess.
"Hannah, who do you think Jenna loves?"
"Me," she quietly said with a coy little smile.
We sang another round and she raised her hand again.
"Hannah, who do you think Blake loves?"
"Me, " she said with the same smile and hushed tone.
One more round, and she had gained a little confidence.
"Hannah, who do you think Abby loves? Is it you?!"
"Me!" she proclaimed a little louder, with a confident head shake that made her ponytail bounce on top her head.
Preschool: the only time in one's life when being self-absorbed is cute.
